Acrobat Files
When you click on an Acrobat (.PDF) file your web browser will attempt to open the file and display it on your screen. With massive files and a regular dial-up Internet connection, you will experience a substantial delay while the first portion of the file downloads before anything displays on your screen.
If you have a dial-up connection, you will get the best results by downloading the .PDF file and then opening it locally, i.e., from your hard drive.
To download a .PDF file, alternate-click (right-click) the link and select Save Target As... from the offered menu. Save to My Documents or some other easily remembered folder, leaving the default file name and type.
Once the document has downloaded completely, open the folder where you downloaded the file and double-click the file name. Your web browser will open a local copy of the .PDF file and you should be reading away in no time!
