A+ Certification: The current A+ exams are the CompTIA A+ Essentials 220-701 exam, and the CompTIA A+ Practical Application 220-702 exam. These exams became effective late in the summer of 2009. The previous A+ exams were the 220-601, 220-602, 220-603, and 220-604. These exams retired in the United States, Canada, and South Africa on February 28th, 2010.* Contact CompTIA for dates in other countries.
*Schools that are members of CompTIA’s E2C program have until August 31, 2010 to take the 201-601 and 201-602 exams.
Network+ Certification: The current Network+ exam is N10-004. This exam became effective in spring of 2009. All versions of the previous exam, N10-003 are now expired.
Vouchers: Test vouchers you buy from Total Seminars can be used for a newer exam even if you purchased them for a now retired exam. Of course, all vouchers come with a one year time limit that does not change if a new exam comes along.
CompTIA exams are updated roughly every three years. CompTIA exams are distinguished by a version number such as "220-702." CompTIA exams generally do not use any form of calendar date, with the exception of a single series of A+ exams that unofficially used a vernacular that looked like this: "220-601 2007." CompTIA has not as yet repeated this.
