Errata

p. 62. The line "...avoid interference from light, motors..." in the first paragraph has a typo and missing a word, it should read "...avoid interference from fluorescent lights, motors..."

p. 107. In the first paragraph at the top of the page it says, “under the IEEE 802.ab standard…” This should say, “under the IEEE 802.3ab standard…”

p. 107. The last sentence under the 1000BaseSX header says, “1000BaseSX devices look exactly like the 100BaseFX products you read about earlier in this chapter, but they rely exclusively on the SC type of connector.” This is incorrect; 1000BaseSX can use several types of connectors with LC being a common choice. 100BaseFX can also use multiple connectors with SC being the preferred choice.

p. 126. The last line says, “Figure 6-10 is called a 96U rack…” This is incorrect and should say, “Figure 6-9 is a 42U rack…”

p. 184-185. On page 184 in the second to last paragraph the binary conversion for 192.168.5.45 is incorrect. The last octet in binary is shown as 00101100 (44), it should be 00101101 (45). The incorrect conversion is also shown in Figure 7-16 on top of page185.

p. 193. In the middle paragraph, it states that by moving from a /24 to a /26 subnet, you create four new subnets and only two can be used. This is no longer accurate. You can use all four newly created subnets. The statement in the book is based on an older Network+ exam version that has since been changed.

p. 195. Figure 7-30’s top two lines are incorrectly shifted to the left by one digit. They should line up exactly over the digits below the solid horizontal line.

p. 257. In the answer to question four, the text says, “the 46.165.5.0/24.” The first octet was reversed and should say, “the 64.165.5.0/24.”
