I have two computers connected to a central router. Computer #1 was given 192.168.100.1 and Computer #2 was given 192.168.100.2. Computer #1 works perfectly, but Computer #2 will not allow us to access the Internet. I tried to Ping the router (192.168.1.1) but cannot ping my internal router or ping a website or even ping my own DNS. However, if I run ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew then it works and I go from 0.0.0.0 to 192.168.100.1. Yes - i even changed up cables and everything and the NIC works. What the heck?
So what do you all think? Both PC's are getting the right TCP/IP information (IP, Subnet, Default Gateway and DNS information). To make it more interesting we can access www.google.com using their IP address but could not reach the website using name. DNS right - but the DNS information is correct. What do you all think??? |

Does this router have an embedded firewall? _________________ Give blood...Save a life!
